The Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship, and Emotional education
(PSHCE) course prepares students with the knowledge and some
of the many life skills they require to become independent
citizens of the world, including leadership skills, world
citizenship and careers education.
The Sixth Form
Jumeirah College will open a Sixth Form in September 2004
as our first group of students complete their GCSE examinations.
There will be a broad range of AS and A2 courses available,
which will most likely include
English Language Chemistry Geography D&T Drama
English Literature Biology History Art ICT
Mathematics Physics French Music Sports Studies
It is expected that most students will complete four AS courses
in Year 12 and go on to study three A2 courses in Year 13.
British A levels have worldwide recognition and will provide
the necessary qualifications to gain entrance into universities
around the world.
In addition to the A level courses students will also follow
a PE course, a general studies course and will be expected
to participate in community service programmes.
Careers Education and Guidance
Careers education and guidance is a key element of the school's
PSHCE programme. It aims to develop the skills of young people
so that they are able to make informed decisions about their
life. Formal careers sessions begin in Year 9 when students
make their GCSE course choices. They have access to the school
Careers Library that contains a wide variety of printed and
electronic media. The guidance process continues as students
choose A level courses and as they begin to select universities
for higher education. Students will be provided with a flow
of information about a wide variety of career opportunities
complemented with a work experience placement in Year 10.
